"You don't know what you've done for me today. I'd
forgotten just how much God loves me. You see --
my body may be
broken, but my heart still works."
This statement came from a 103-year-old woman responding to Paul Falkowski's
initial visit to her.
After talking with her, Paul immediately wrote her statement down and,
as he did, he realized she had just given Desert
Ministries it's mission statement.
Desert Ministries is a non-profit organization
that reaches into long term care facilities such as nursing homes and assisted
living facilities to provide spiritual and practical support to the people who
live in these places, their caregivers and their families. Since August 1992, Desert Ministries has worked to give hope and love
to people who feel like they are in a desert-like condition: hopeless,
isolated and discarded by society because of Alzheimer's disease, advanced
age, terminal illness, depression and other maladies.
Through our four programs: Care Facility Outreach,
Christian Medical Fellowship, Family Links and the Radio Hour, we provide the
conduit for community support of the local nursing homes and assisted living
facilities. Please take a few minutes to look through the site to see how
you can make the difference in lives of our frail elderly. Please consider the different
ways you can help Desert Ministries. We know that it's because
of people like you that allows this ministry to continue making a
difference in the lives of so many people.
