Guilt. Determine if the guilt you are experiencing is biblical guilt or false guilt. You may have promised your loved one that you would never put them in a nursing home. Now it is the only thing you can do to assure they receive proper care. Perhaps you made that promise based on the information you had at the time and the love you have for them. You may experience guilt over your feelings of fatigue and frustration common to all caregivers-you feel guilty that your parent or spouse is a burden. You may need to rethink the decision based on the new information you have. These feelings of guilt are very real but they are not sinful. The Bible teaches us that God will forgive all confessed sin through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus on the cross. For those decisions that are difficult and those feelings that are hard, God can provide His guidance, grace, and mercy. You may need to search out a support group or advice from professionals to help make decisions and sort through your feelings. Just be assured that God is not condemning you, in fact, He is pleased with your effort to care for your loved one. Contact us for more information. | Back|
