Half of all nursing home residents never, receive a visit from anyone, they are twice as likely to die in the same period of time as those that do get visitors. The nursing home industry is in trouble. 50%-60% of their funding comes from Medicaid. Nursing homes are severely understaffed. As a result, the nursing resident suffers. The frail elderly are dehumanized and marginalized and their care is under-funded. The care of our frail elderly is not just the responsibility of the government. We, who claim to follow Christ, are ultimately responsible for their care.
