Nebraska Day of the Older Person

This tradition began in 1999 when the United Nations declared that it was the “International Year of the Older Person.” Since then each year, Desert Ministries requests that the Governor of Nebraska recognize it’s senior population by declaring the first Thursday of October: “Nebraska Day of the Older Person.” It is our desire that people will use this day to create ways to celebrate the lives and the contributions of our elders.  We would ask that the news media and other media outlets would tell the stories about elder Nebraskan’s who have and continue to make significant contributions to our great state.

We are grateful to the Governor for his support of this effort.   Below is a copy of the proclamation.
