Metropolitan Community College has been a great partner of Desert Ministries. MCC’s service learning students have been heavily involved with Desert Ministries in varying roles Jennifer Tullos, service learning coordinator for Metropolitan Community College, has been a great help to us.
The students’ roles often include: offering time in nursing homes developing relationships with the elders living there, leading large group activities that the frail, institutionalized older adults enjoy, or, on special occasions, delivering special treats to nursing homes around the Omaha area just to bring a little cheer.
MCC invited Desert Ministries to come and speak to its service learning students at its Fort Campus and be a part of its Elder & Caregiver Resource Fair, where Executive Director Paul Falkowski gave presentations.
Desert Ministries was proud to be one of the 2011 sponsors of the fair.
