Volunteer Profile

Pat & Denise Boland

How long have you been going to the nursing home and how much time do you spend there?

We have been volunteering at Huntington Park for almost 4 years now and we go there on Monday mornings from 10AM until they have their lunch which is usually about 11:30 or so . We spend a total of about 3 hours a week there between us.

What has going to the nursing home meant to you?

What it means to us is that it is a way to serve and thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for his great gift of salvation to us. After what he has done for us, it is the very least we can do.

What has your time spent with the elders meant to them?

The residents there are mostly very depressed and lonely and when someone comes in there with the love of  Jesus it cannot help but brighten their day a little.

Why would you recommend doing this to someone else?

I believe as Christians we should all be serving our Lord and Savior in some way, it is a command, not an option and visiting in nursing homes is certainly one way to serve our Lord!    If you would like to join our team, click here.
