"Nebraska Day of the Older Person"

Proclamation Ceremony

When:  September 11, 2008

Time: 10:30 a.m.

Where:  Nebraska State Capitol, Warner Chambers

Purpose:  To have the Governor proclaim the first Wednesday of October, October 3, 2007 as "Nebraska Day of the Older Person" to recognize our elders.

"Nebraska's Day of the Older Person"

WHEREAS,     we, the people of Nebraska, view ageing as a natural process of life to be embraced and celebrated and, 

WHEREAS,     we, the people of Nebraska, recognize that older people are entitled to, and should be encouraged to, aspire to and attain the highest possible level of fulfillment and, 

WHEREAS,     we, the people of Nebraska, recognize and affirm the impact older people have all younger generations, and, 

WHEREAS,     we, the people of Nebraska, recognize our responsibility to older people to honor them, value them and embrace them as an integral part of our society and, 

WHEREAS,     we, the people of Nebraska, recognize and affirm that their value to us is not only measured in past accomplishments, but also for their present contributions, and for the contributions they make to our future.
